Hi, I’m Vy Hoang. I’ve been playing violin for almost 3 years now, and in such short time, it has been quite a journey. One of my favorite parts about playing the violin in orchestra is being able to meet new people, connect with them, and form friendships outside of music. For example, this camp has helped me meet new people who are talented and passionate about the arts. I love how everyone is so dedicated and willing to work together to turn different parts into one piece. I come from Middletown, CT, and other than music, some of my hobbies are, doing crafts, playing badminton, and painting nail designs.
My name is Sara, and I am from Southington, Connecticut. I have been playing the violin for seven years, and I especially appreciate its rich and expressive tone. The Summer Institute is a wonderful opportunity because it allows us to focus on the details of our music and grow as musicians. Outside of music, I enjoy badminton and swimming. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in the STEM or medical field.
My name is Claire Xie from Simsbury, Connecticut. I have been playing the violin for two years, studying piano for six years, and most recently, learning the flute. I enjoy playing the violin because it allows me to express my emotions through music, and I love making music with others. In my spare time, I enjoy reading science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels as well as playing badminton and fencing. At camp, I have practiced solfège, improved my technical skills, and learned more about music theory. Playing different styles of music has helped me grow as a musician, and I especially enjoy the camp’s welcoming community, where everyone is super nice and the teachers are very knowledgeable, supportive, and inspiring. My name is Leo, and I’ve been playing the violin for 13 years. Something I love about the violin is the ability to create a beautiful tone, something the camp has helped me develop greatly. Among other things, I enjoy running, art, and cars. Soon I will be going to college at University of Rochester studying mechanical engineering. (photo to be added soon)
Ayla Facchini, cello, has been playing the cello for the last 11 years. This is her fourth summer in the Virtuosi Summer Institute. She has been playing chamber music with Bruna for the last four years. In the fall, she will be attending Boston University to study Cello Performance.
Isaac St. Georges, cello, an incoming high school senior who has been playing cello since fifth grade. He plays cello in the school orchestra and also plays in the Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra each summer with his dad and his brother. In addition he likes to keep up with his studies, drive, travel and snorkel.
