About the Institute:

Virtuosi Summer Music Institute is a two-week creative music education program open to instrumentalists ages 8-18 and young and upcoming opera singers. The Institute was founded in 2011.
The program is a collaboration of Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra & Connecticut Lyric Opera. It takes place at Tunxis Community College in Farmington Connecticut during the month of August.

Institute’s activities include chamber music coaching, chamber orchestra, opera production, music theory, art class (for the young group) and many public performances. The performances take place at Tunxis Community College, Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford and the Wadsworth Museum of Art in Hartford.

The students are divided into groups based on age and level of playing. Young & Advanced groups for instrumentalists, and the CLO’s Summer Opera Institute.
Our outstanding, internationally acclaimed, and very dedicated instructors are with students from 9:30 – 4:30 teaching, socializing and sharing their performance experience with them. This inspirational relationship gives our students a great boost of confidence.
