COVID VICTIMS REMEMBRANCE BY COMPOSER JOHNATHAN KANE

10/11 – 3 pm – Trinity – On Main – New Britain
10/18 – 6 pm – Cyril and Methodius Church – Hartford
A concert commemorating the pain and suffering of all people caused by
the COVID-19. A new piece commissioned by the Virtuosi from the
Connecticut composer Jonathan Kane will be premiered at the event.
Also in the program: Bartok: Divertimento for Strings.
The Orchestra will be lead by Adrian Sylveen who will also play the
principal violin.

Connecticut Lyric Opera Concert 

Brazilian Mezzo-Soprano Rebecca de Almeida brings an exhilarating presence and transparent energy to the stage. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rebecca has performed a wide variety of roles throughout the US and Europe. Rebecca Almeida’s achievements include 1st prize at XXVI Concurso Latino Americano Rosa Mística, II Concurso Nacional Jovem Destaque, two times winner of ‘Concurso Villa Lobos’ as well as 2nd prize at 20º Concurso de Piano ArtLivre – Prova Estímulo, performances at renowned venues such as Teatro Municipal de Niterói and CCBB in Brasil, and The Garde at New London, CT. Rebecca actively performs in New England with CT Lyric Opera, Hartford Opera Theatre, and East Coast Chamber Orchestra, as well as a duo with her husband Blake Hansen.

Connecticut Lyric Opera presents:
Heather Petri, contralto

Heather Petri has been hailed as “a true contralto, with a big, deep, resonant projection that can fill a hall” by the New London Day and is a familiar voice throughout the Northeast. In 2019, she made her Carnegie Hall solo debut in Handel’s Messiah with the New York Oratorio Society. As a soloist, she has appeared with the American Symphony Orchestra, Voices of Ascension, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space, and the New Orchestra of Washington. She performs frequently with the NY Philharmonic, Musica Sacra, the Choir of St Ignatius Loyola, the Cathedral Choir of Saint John the Divine, Musica Viva, and Essential Voices USA. Her operatic roles include Mary (die Fliegende Holländer), Baba (The Medium), Arnalta (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Larina (Eugene Onegin), and Annina (die Rosenkavalier). Heather has been a member of the opera chorus at both Bard Summerscape and the Princeton Festival, as well as New York City Opera.

A concert presenting the most significant Polish composers of the XX century. The so-called Second Polish Rennaisance was a great cultural achievement, not only for the Polish nation but for the whole region. It was also the result of cultural influences from major cultural and historical events of that time.
