Douglas J. Lemke currently serves as Principal Double Bass of The Virtuosi, and Associate Principal Double Bass of Konzert Opera Florence. He holds the current post as Professor of Double Bass at the Connecticut Virtuosi Music Academy. With three degrees in performance, two from The Hartt School and one from Penn State University, he has shared his passion by performing throughout the United States, the UK, Europe, the Balkans, and South America. Doug has had the privilege of recording/premiering for Emmy Award-winning composer Lanny Meyers in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Following the National Broadway Tour of “Cinderella” and a successful 2015/2016 season with The Virtuosi and Konzert Opera Florence, his upcoming performances include the National Broadway Tours of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” and “The Sound of Music”, adjacent to a full season with The Virtuosi and with CT Lyric Opera, performing Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” and Puccini’s “Tosca” throughout the 2016/2017 season. Douglas maintains a private studio, teaching and sharing knowledge and experiences to dedicated, emerging artists along the Eastern seaboard of the US.
