A native of Jackson, Michigan, Jim Forgey has been an active performer and teacher in Connecticut since 1992. His musical training includes degrees from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, and studies with renowned woodwind teacher Kalmen Opperman in New York City. In addition to his work with the Connecticut Virtuosi, Mr. Forgey performs frequently with the symphonies of Eastern Connecticut, Norwalk, and Waterbury, and has performed with the Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Ridgefield symphonies. Mr. Forgey has also been a part of many productions at Hartford’s Bushnell Theater where he has performed with several Broadway National Tours including, “The Producers”, “Ragtime,” “Mary Poppins”, and “Wicked”. Jim can be heard on the RCA recording “Dreams” with fellow Clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and has appeared in performance with Mr. Stoltzman at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
