Extraordinary Tristan und Isolde – “The love story that changed opera for ever”

An internationally acclaimed cast of singers performs one of the pinnacles of the operatic repertoire. The influential Tristan und Isolde is notable for Wagner’s use of chromaticism, tonal ambiguity, orchestral color, and harmonic suspension. More than a century and a half after it was composed, it’s nevertheless music of unsettling energy and magnetism.

With this one work, Wagner exposed the expanse of his imagination and ensured that music would nevermore be the same. Wagner is reaching back to the Middle Ages for its material – Tristan cast its tall shadow far into the future.
